I think it outrageous to annexe the open space in Bishops Park without widespread public consultation. It is used at present by many groups and individuals who appreciate this open and natural landscape by the river. A multi-coloured artificial surface, a product of the petrochemical industry, will significantly affect what is after all designated as a conservation area.

I couldn't agree more ... I mean where was the Mori poll finding out who wants this pitch? Where is the vote of local residents? And as this is a Nature Conservation Area I believe the council are required to hold a public meeting, I know they are attending the meeting on 11th October, but they didn't organise it. I thought London Councils were required to keep all existing Open Spaces and even create new ones, not wipe them out. I have spoken to over 100 people in the park whilst collecting a written petition, and only 2 refused to sign it because they thought the astro-turf was a good idea. Surely they can't put it in if no-one wants it????

Research show that football maina has peaked - with viewing figures in decline. Our great results in cricket and rugby are being mirrored in the increased interest in these sports. And while the new facilities proposed boast of support from the Fulham Touch Rugby league, no parent I know is enthusastic about their child playing on astro turf - one parent calling it 'fibre glass' as it results invariably in nasty cuts on the legs and arms. Equally 2 crickets nets do not a cricket pitch make. There is perfectly good grass on the playing fields. In fact the council have recently re-turfed the area and it is looking much better. There used to be a astro turf cricket strip, goal posts and the area was lined out. All of which disappeared in time with Fulham FC planning application last time. What about putting back what was there and looking after it better - surely that would please everyone and come at a fraction of the price in every way.

With regard to FFC doing something for the community - how about redesigning and paying for an adventure playground in the defunct boating lake area? Also the rest of the playground area needs a lot of attention. How the council could have let it get into such a state I do not know. It is always busy, yet with very little for the children to play on. The sea-saw has been broken for weeks - pathetic. We are footballed out here. Why can't FFC open their ground to "The Community" Now that really would be doing something special for "The Community" that likes playing football, that is

Asphalting over one of the very few green park areas in this area is simply ridiculous and a badly thought through idea.
