We strongly oppose the planning application by the Fulham Football Club Community Sports Trust. We use Bishop's Park regularly and would hate to loose such a beautiful open park in our neighborhood. |

What a relief that common sense has prevailed and congratulations to all those responsible for knocking this on the head. The council has come out very badly from all this and have clearly shot themselves in the foot for again politicising something that should be apolitical, they need a big lesson in democracy, remember that? It is something that Britain was famous for. Now how about them trying to undo years of disgraceful neglect in the Park. I remember how things were 15 years ago, but sadly it has gradually deteriorated. If just a fraction of the exorbitant amount we pay in rates goes to the upkeep of Bishops Park and the grounds of Fulham Palace then we really would have a park to be proud of. |

I could not agree more with Matthew. Fulham FC are a Premiership football club and it is out of the question for them to let out the pitch for public use. As I was strongly against the development of the astro-turf pitch, I am delighted that we managed to fight against it. Yet I must enforce my concern over saving Bishops Park. We need to repair the children's playground, make the boats in the pond useable again, add another basketball net to the concrete area, so that one can play a proper game of basketball and continue to look after the grass area that we fought hard to save. |

Though i am a FFC fan i do not support the scheme and rightfully it will not go ahead. I do however think that some of you need a reality check when complaining about the Club. It is not that expensive for tickets or season tickets. Its lowest price tickets are one of the cheapest 4/5 in the premiership. Also the club has been there longer than all of the residents unless you are all 108 years old and been living here all your life. I doubt that anyone in the immediate area is. Therefore all of you knew what you were buying into when you moved here! Though i agree that the park astroturf wasnt known about and agree once more that it is a foolish idea.
Once last point, a few posters have been saying "why dont fulham let the public use their pitch on non matchdays", get real! Football pitches get cut up enough just with regular official use let alone the public using it throughout the year! Remember Chelseas Sand pitch 3 years ago, and they only have up to 6 non chelsea events a year there.
I now believe that rather than just stopping your campaign here you should look to improve, or Save bishops park as you main headline states. This can be done by pushing the council to maintain and add new smaller scale facilities to the park. Cricket nets would be a great idea.
Thanks for reading. |
