Master plan development

£270,000 has been allocated for improvements to the park.  Of this, £35,000 has been awarded to Groundwork to put together a masterplan for the Park.  Groundwork has worked with the council on such projects for over a decade.  There was no other tender for the contract.

Once completed, the council does not intend to provide additional funding for the master plan.  It is envisaged the plan will be used to attract outside funding e.g. national lottery.  Potentially anyone can make an application for this.  We are considering setting ourselves up as a charity to enable us to do this in the future.

The first meeting was held on 25 January where key areas of concern were identified.

Provisional dates have been set for public consultation in February and May.  It is envisioned these will take place in the park.  In February the draft masterplan will be presented for the public to comment on.  In May, the final masterplan and project proposal i.e what areas should be done and when will be presented.   From January to July there are also stakeholder group meetings that will assist the formulation of the plan.

savebishopspark was invited to be a member.  It is vital you let us know what you want to see happen in Bishops Park.  This master plan could well dictate what the park will look like for the next decade – now is your chance to really make a difference and be heard – make sure it is got what you want.
